This change was intended to unify the standards, eliminate inconsistencies across the various standards, and make future updates easier and less costly.
Types of A325 Bolt Connections:

A325 bolts have three connection types: SC (slip-critical connection), N (pressure-bearing connection with threads in the shear plane), and X (pressure-bearing connection with threads not in the shear plane). Different connection types are suitable for different engineering requirements. For example, the SC connection is often used in applications requiring extremely high connection reliability.
